Phil Richards


Phil Richards is fully qualified and insured in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy.

He is also registered with the ISRM (Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage) and qualified as a Personal Trainer and Triathlon Coach.

Phil worked for nearly 20 years in educational publishing, and then took the opportunity to develop his other interests by retraining. After studying and qualifying Phil spent two seasons working with Banbury Rugby Club and has since developed his business in sports & remedial massage therapy and personal training throughout Oxfordshire.

Phil has always enjoyed being active.

When younger, he was a canoeist competing regularly in slalom and white water racing before taking up running. This progressed into triathlon and endurance sport. He has competed at all distances up to Ironman and nowadays does the occasional cycle Sportive and long distance swim. Phil belongs to Oxford Tri where he has been involved in coaching and running the club as a committee member.

Phil enjoys working with a wide variety of sporting and non-sporting people to help them in whatever capacity he can.

Phil has done pre and post-event massage work at a number of Ironman, half Ironman, marathon, 10km runs and the Compton Downlands Challenge.

Sports & Remedial Massage combines traditional massage with soft tissue manipulation techniques and remedial exercises to help prevent and treat injury.

It is used to reduce aches and pains brought on by postural, occupational, sporting and lifestyle factors such as repetitive strains, driving, office and computer work. By working on tight and restricted soft tissues it can alleviate headaches, neck, shoulder and back pain. Reducing muscle tension and pain helps to increase range of movement, promote faster recovery and improve performance for sport, leisure and everyday living.
